Mommy Makeover

Being a mother is a lot of work. That work starts with pregnancy, of course, and it can take a serious toll on your body. The stresses of pregnancy and motherhood tend to be located in a few specific areas: the belly, the hips, and the breasts. The belly is, of course, stressed during pregnancy, and the hips and breasts tend to be stressed through the basic duties of motherhood, including nursing.

Mitigating the stress of motherhood on your body can be accomplished using a procedure known as a Mommy Makeover. So, what is a mommy makeover? Actually a combination of three different procedures, a mommy makeover involves the use of liposuction, tummy tuck, and breast enhancement—most often a breast lift but also occasionally a breast augmentation. WMommy makeovers are designed to help women look and feel more youthful by resetting the clock in several key areas that typically taxed by motherhood.

The Mommy Makeover Procedures

A mommy makeover is actually a combination of three separate procedures: Liposuction, tummy tuck, and breast enhancement. Depending on the intensity of each procedure and on the desired results, these may sometimes be performed concurrently—though the procedures can be split up for patient comfort and recovery purposes. Mommy makeovers are almost always performed under general anesthesia in a hospital or surgical suite setting.

  • Liposuction: During this part of the procedure, unwanted fat is removed from the body. This is usually fat that cannot be targeted by diet or exercise (and seems especially synonymous with the hardships of motherhood). Liposuction uses a minimally invasive technique to remove this fat, but concentrates on results that look natural.
  • Tummy Tuck: A tummy tuck procedure focuses on eliminating unwanted extra tissue from the belly area. For mothers, this tissue often develops as a result of pregnancy. Eliminating the excess skin makes the belly area look more fit and more svelte—as well as more youthful overall. The procedure may also tighten the structure of the abdominal muscles.
  • Breast Enhancement: Motherhood and aging can both have a significant effect on the breasts, either by creating a “deflated” look, or by changing the orientation. A breast lift or a breast augmentation is designed to correct both of those issues, restoring a youthful profile to the bust, much the satisfaction of patients.

Mommy Makeover Results

Recovery from a mommy makeover procedure could take a few weeks, depending on the results desired by the patient. However, results are almost unanimously cheered. The breast enhancement provides a more youthful profile, while the liposuction and tummy tuck often combine to make the belly and hips look slimmer, more fit, and more youthful. This makes Mommy Makeover procedures especially popular among mothers, as it addresses so many of the common problem areas.

After all, motherhood takes a toll: not only on your body, but on your life. You miss out on a lot (though, it’s worth it). Mommy makeover procedures a way to reclaim some of that lost youth, at least in the way you look.
