Many people are becoming interested in a Brazilian butt lift to accentuate their figures, particularly women who want to create a curvier hourglass shape. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports a 28 percent increase from 2014 to 2015 alone in Brazilian butt lifts.
Why the increase? More people are discovering the added benefits of a Brazilian butt lift to slim another area of your body as fat is collected and injected into your buttocks for added volume and natural, long-lasting results.
If you think a Brazilian butt lift may be right for you, there are six questions you should ask Dr. Meade during your consultation.
1. Am I a Candidate?
The best candidates are healthy, have realistic expectations and want a fuller butt. Because the Brazilian transfers fat, you also need to have enough excess fat for Dr. Meade to collect and good skin elasticity to accommodate the changes in volume. A Brazilian butt lift may not work for people who are lean with little extra fat.
If you like the size of your butt and simply want to define what you have, the Brazilian may not be the best procedure. Dr. Meade may recommend liposuction to better contour your natural shape.
2. “Will I Look Like Kim Kardashian?”
It’s important to have realistic expectations when considering a Brazilian butt lift and talk with Dr. Meade about personalizing your results to fit your body. Kim Kardashian’s famous bottom may not complement your figure and could create an unbalanced look.
3. What’s the Difference between a BBL and Butt Implants?
A Brazilian butt lift uses your own fat to enhance your buttocks, requires small incisions to harvest the fat cells and yields results that look and feel completely natural. Unless you opt to include a butt lift, Dr. Meade will not make any incisions in your butt and will just inject the fat.
Alternatively, a plastic surgeon could use silicone implants in your butt to add fullness. Implants will require incisions in your butt and the results will look and feel less natural than a Brazilian butt lift. This is a procedure that Dr. Meade does NOT endorse or recommend.
4. Can I Pick Where Fat Cells Are Harvested From?
Dr. Meade typically collects fat for a Brazilian butt lift from the abdomen or inner thighs but it depends on your body and your goals. Fat can also be harvested from the lower back, flanks and other areas if you have enough fat in those places. It’s best to talk with Dr. Meade about where you would like to shed fat and follow his recommendation.
5. Will I Have Scars?
You may have very small scars from the incisions required for the liposuction part of a Brazilian butt lift. However, Dr. Meade uses his expertise to make tiny incisions and position them in inconspicuous places or where clothing can easily cover them. These incisions are so small that they tend to fade over time to the point of invisible. You shouldn’t have any scars on your buttocks from the injections.
6. Are My Results Permanent?
A Brazilian butt lift creates permanent, long-lasting results, however, you may lose some of the initial volume. On average, your body may absorb 20 to 40 percent of the added fat, leaving you with 60 to 80 percent of the injected fat. Some people lose a much smaller percentage though. Dr. Meade may recommend injecting more fat to help compensate and achieve your desired results. Every person’s results are different; the healthier you are, the better you will do!
No Question Is too Small
As you go through your consultation, ask any question that you think of, even if it seems trivial to you. Each question and concern matters because those details help Dr. Meade create the perfect Brazilian butt lift for you.
